A bridge or dentures will do a serviceable job of replacing missing teeth, but they have certain drawbacks that cannot be overcome and are simply part of the pros and cons of those restorations. However, the three components that comprise our Chatham dental implants give you the closest thing possible to a natural tooth. They look like them; they feel like them; and they let you chew and speak with full confidence. At the practice of Caryn Miller DMD, LLC, we’re pleased to provide the benefits of implants.
The first step in the process is to come in for a consultation and examination. Your gums will need to be in generally healthy condition, and your jaw bone will be tested to ensure that is structurally strong and thick enough for our Chatham dental implants. Bone grafting is available if your jaw does not meet the necessary standard. If everything checks out, the surgical procedure to place the post will commence. The post is made of titanium and it serves the role of a root. Your jaw bone grows around it and fuses with it, taking up to several months to occur. An anchor is then added to the post, which will add support to the tooth. Impressions are taken to make a crown that is made of tooth-colored material and will be cemented to the top of the post and secured by the anchor. That completes our Chatham dental implants. And they are so much like real teeth that you may end up forgetting which is which.
